Japanese Exchange Visit

Yesterday, we had a delightful morning welcoming Simone, Miranda, and Mako to our school. Miranda and Mako are participating in an exchange program from Japan and will be attending Emmanuel College for the first term of 2024.

 

Simone, Miranda and Mako joined our Year 5 and Year 6 classes as we kicked off the year with our first Japanese lesson.

One of the highlights was playing a popular New Year's game called Fukuwarai, where we had to place body parts on a blank face whilst blindfolded. This game is based on a Japanese proverb that emphasises the importance of laughter in finding happiness. By promoting laughter and enjoyment, Fukuwarai sets a wonderful tone for the year ahead, fostering a positive attitude and mindset among all participants.
