6 to 7

  • TRANSITION GRADE 6-7

*Our well developed and effective relationships with our main neighbourhood secondary colleges are very important in ensuring a smooth transition to secondary education.  Our students attend a wide range of local government and independent secondary colleges.

*Our secondary transition program focuses on excellent communication between our local secondary college, parents and our school transition co-ordinators.

*Our main involvement with local secondary colleges includes:

    • Visits to the Secondary Schools – includes involvement in programs and activities and secondary school science, maths and literacy lessons.
    • Secondary School teachers visit Allansford and deliver lessons to the classes.
    • All other DEECD schools are contacted and invited to Allansford
    • Ex- Allansford students come into the classrooms and talk about their transition from primary to secondary school focusing on transition and timetabling.
    • Every year local government secondary schools provide information evenings in relation to what their school offers and will supply you with an enrolment pack detailing how to enrol your child.
    • Secondary college information nights for parents are promoted in our newsletter and parents are encouraged to visit a range of secondary colleges.
    • Parents who are planning to send their children to non-government schools need to follow the process specific to that school.
    • Students will be required to be enrolled at a secondary school by the end of term two
    • Phone calls and student records are exchanged to ensure successful transition.
    • Principal Class and/or integration aides take integration students to their new schools a number of times. To familiarise them with their new school
    • In addition, their schools are invited to visit the classroom and also attend the end of year Parent Support Group meeting.
